Since Day 22 I have to admit, I have been stifled as to what to write. But as luck would have it I noticed something about myself today (and let’s just include yesterday as I was very naughty to not blog!).
Not shopping, I have subconsciously been focusing on other things. And because I cannot shop for another 74 days (the pain is lessening believe it or not, day by day) I am looking to all-other-things-feminine, including high tea.
I have been honing in on my baking skills (a domino effect from spending lots of time with my grandmother’s) and this combined with my love of 50’s / 60’s glamour leads me to obsessing over how I can create a high tea of my own. This then combined with (oh, so much combining going on!) the requirement within my 100 day challenge to not only not buy anything but sell 100 items of my own belongings = (you guessed it!) A High Tea Sell-a-thon!
The name needs work but the idea itself is rather jazzy, I think.
Having done a bit of research of my own on creating a High Tea / Market Stall at my house I have found there are already commercially produced days such as this. If you are in Sydney or Melbourne check out: http://www.thehighteaparty.com.au/
For those outside of these cities such as myself, we can only create our own and steal their ideas. From my cyber-idea-thieving I found that I will need the following:
Tea…TICK! No brainer really. Probably add some coffee in there too.
A Theme…TICK! Can there be no better theme for this than 50’s/ 60’s Frock?
High Tea paraphernalia…TICK! Got tea cups + pots and a cake stand.
Market Merchandising…TICK! Surely years of working in retail count for something.
Done and done.
And… I can host my tea party for my final day of writing my 100 day challenge blog! I can even post pics of the event to prove that I had the high tea and sold all my goods!
Hoo-rah! Now, who to invite and how to get the word out about my…
High Tea Fan-Frockin’-tast-ica!
The name still needs tweaking. At least I have 73 days to think something else up.
Hey Mon,
ReplyDeleteThis sounds like a fabulous idea. There's nothing more glamorous than a Ladylike themed High Tea. And of course with the Royal Wedding fresh in our minds I am sure it will inspire you to get your best silver spoons on show. It is such a shame I can't attend..I've started collecting tea pots and cups so would love to see the pics of the party. Great idea and a very clever way to start shifting those 100 items. Well done you!
Love Donna
p.s. Perth misses you already xx
